There's more to Ardmore Academy

Our classes are open to dancers of all ages and levels, from beginners to champions. Whether your child is looking to be competitive or just enjoy the culture of Irish dance, we have a class for them.

Ardmore Academy of Irish Dance was founded in 1999 by Laura Pentimone and Debbie Pentimone-Berko. The Academy offers traditional Irish Dance classes for beginners through championship level for children ages 3 and up. As part of the curriculum, children are taught the basics of Irish Dance, including posture, foot placement and basic introductory steps and footwork in both the hard and soft shoes.

Ardmore Academy's students have performed at cultural centers and performing art venues throughout the tri-state area. Ardmore's students have been very successful in the competitive area as well. Ardmore dancers are regional, national and international medalists. Our dancers have achieved such success in such a short time through hard work, dedication and a positive attitude.

Ardmore Academy is a member of the Mid-Atlantic, National and World Irish Dancing Commissions.

Frequently Asked Questions

We are more than happy answer specific questions via email

  • What should my child wear to class?

Children should wear t-shirts or tank tops, shorts or leotard and tights etc. No long pants, jeans or anything too baggy.

  • What kind of shoes do they need?

There are special shoes for Irish Dancing that are preferable for class. They are called ‘ghilles’ or ‘soft shoes’. We have a collection of second-hand shoes in the office, or they can be purchased from Fay’s shoes at www.fayshoes.com. If your child has ballet slippers already, these are fine for beginners.

  • When do classes start?

Classes begin the first week of September. Classes run until mid-June. We also offer a 6 week summer cycle.

  • How do I find out about studio closures?

If the studio must close due to inclement weather or any other unforeseen circumstances, this information will be posted on our website and communicated in our email group.

  • When is tuition due?

Our tuition is is due on the 10th of the month. Parents can keep up with their payments via our online payment portal.

  • Is there an end-of-year recital?

Each year we have an end of year recital. Date and location will be announced as soon as they are set.

  • Are there any other events that I should be aware of?

The Ardmore Academy participates in various St. Patrick’s Day parades, and various other St. Patrick’s Day shows. All are welcomed and encouraged to participate.

We also have our annual dinner dance that is a great night for both children and adults. Once the date is confirmed we will let you know.
